Production Locations

From 1996 to 1998, the series was produced jointly by Polyphon Film- und Fernsehengesellschaft mbH (responsible for all other production aspects such as filming/postproduction/location scouting etc) and ActionConcept (stunts). Those episodes were shot in Berlin, Germany and in the surrounding state of Brandenburg. In 1998, Action Concept took over as the sole production company and shifted all filming/production work to its headquarters in Hürth just south of Cologne. Since then, episodes have been shot in and around Cologne and Düsseldorf as well as on several major Autobahnen (A44/A46 and now mainly on the Filmautobahn Aldenhoven by Düren -  between Cologne and Düsseldorf in the state of Northrhine-Westphalia (NRW).

Season 1-2

Dreilinden
All scenes shooted in and around Berlin and Brandenburg.Highway action-scenes shooted on a un-used highway in the southeast of Berlin. Near the village of Dreilinden is a section of the highway A115 that was in use until 1969. After that is was abandoned untill "Cobra 11" came....Just north of this locations along the A115 in service stands the building that was used as police-station of Cobra 11.

Also often used was roadside-restaurant "Stolper Heide" along the highway A111 in the northwest of Berlin. This also was a roadside-restaurant which wasn't used.Drama-scenes were shooted on a highway which was used by normal cars. During the shootings the highway wasn't even closed: The car of the Cobra 11-team was placed on a truck (full of cameras). This one drove with a low speed over the highway. In these scenes you can see this by looking at the many trucks which overtake the Cobra 11-detectives....

From Season 3

Action-Concept Building

Almost all scenes shooted in and around Cologne and Düsseldorf. Episodes "Der Tod eines Jungen" and "Ein einsamer Sieg" were shooted for a great part on the isle of Mallorca.

Episode "Tina und Aysim" was shooted for a small part in "De Haan" in Belgium. For the episode "Heinrich und Paul" the Cobra 11-team has even travelled to Paris.

The police-station of Cobra 11 is in reality the office of production-company "Action Concept" in Hürth (near Cologne). Near this office is the studio were the shootings in the Cobra 11-office take place. In this studio is a setting where all office shootings take place. With the help lambs it's even possible to make it night and day. Also the harbours in Düsseldorf have been the setting in many episodes.

Highway actie-scenes were shooted on normal highways, which are closed for this (most of the time in the weekend).

From Season 10

FTL Filmautobahn und Teststrecke Often used highways and streats: LIndustriestrasse in Cologne; o.a start-scenes "Der Tod eines Jungen", "Die Hütte am See", "Black out", "Tödliche Kunst", "Der Detektiv" and "Gnadenlos". Stadtautobahn (L288n) in Solingen; e.g. start-scenes "Heinrich und Paul" and "Feuer und Flamme".
B56n near Zülpich; e.g. start-scene "Bis zum bitteren Ende", middle-scene "Die Clique" and end-scenes "Verraten und verkauft" and "Ein tiefer Fall".

From November 2005 (end of season 10) are all included highway action scenes in the film Highway "near-Alden Courts Siersdorf. Here is a 1.1 km long highway specifically for the inclusion of highway scenes

The solid -developed original highway with entrances and exits , and emergency stopping bays verges and parking can also be transformed by typical signage and markings quickly in any European federal or expressway.

Both roadways are 1,000 meters long and with a 81 cm high concrete barrier separated . Including the generous turning loops at each end , the total distance of 2,300 meters.
